Rules & Disciplines

How the Game is Played

Australian VR gaming is governed by a unified ruleset applied across all sanctioned events. These rules ensure competitive integrity, player safety, and a consistent experience for participants and spectators alike.

Competition Disciplines

Solo Challenge

Individual mastery under pressure

Solo Challenge is the foundational individual format of competitive VR gaming. Players compete independently in time-trial or score-attack scenarios, measured purely on personal performance against a standardised environment.

Formats

Time Attack — fastest completion of a defined course

Score Supremacy — highest score within a fixed time window

Precision Trial — accuracy-weighted challenge with penalty deductions

Players

1

Duration

15–30 min per round

Full-immersion headset, standard motion controllers, certified play space

Team Arena

Squad objectives, collective intelligence

Team Arena is the flagship team-based format, pitting squads of five against each other in objective-driven match structures. Communication, role execution, and coordinated movement determine outcomes as much as individual mechanical skill.

Formats

Zone Control — secure and hold designated arena zones

Elimination Series — progressive team elimination across three rounds

Flag Relay — cooperative collection and delivery under opposition pressure

Players

5 per team

Duration

45–60 min per match

Full-immersion headset, motion controllers, optional haptic accessories (non-competitive tier only)

Mixed Disciplines

Versatility across multiple event types

Mixed Disciplines combines elements from Solo Challenge and Team Arena within a single competitive event, assessing the breadth of a player's capabilities across physical, strategic, and decision-making challenges.

Formats

Triathlon VR — three sequential events scored cumulatively

Hybrid Relay — individual and team legs within the same match structure

Open Circuit — points accumulated across a rotating selection of event types

Players

1–5 (format dependent)

Duration

60–90 min per event

Full-immersion headset, motion controllers, certified haptic accessories
